Scientists and student participants in the 23rd International Symposium on Advanced Technologies (ISAT) were welcomed by the UPLB Agricultural Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center (AMTEC) to its laboratories for a tour on November 21, 2024, as part of their events prior to the scientific convention.

The delegates are from the member universities of the ISAT consortium, namely Kogakuin University of Japan, University of Danang- University of Science and Technology (DUT) of Vietnam, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST), and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

AMTEC gave them a brief overview of its mandates and gave the guests a quick tour of the Center’s Agricultural Machinery Testing and Studies (AMaTS) and Sample Analysis (SA) laboratories. AMTEC’s resident test engineers also showcased a testing demonstration of its modern testing setup for four-wheel tractors.

At its 23rd gathering, ISAT is hosted by UPLB with the theme: Engineering Innovations for Net Zero: Advancing Low Carbon Strategies. The event aims to present innovations and foster future collaborations among member universities in pursuing sustainable advancements in engineering and technology.

As a unit of UPLB’s College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology (CEAT), AMTEC is also actively joining the college’s goal to prepare its students and facilities to become more environmentally friendly and sustainable amidst the mission to create and promote advancements in engineering.

Meanwhile, the ISAT participants also visited other UPLB-CEAT units, such as the UPLB Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (BIOMECH), and the UPLB National Agromet Station. The whole event was held from November 21-22, 2024.
