Local and international participants of the ICTforAg 2024 dropped by the Roberto C. Bautista Hall to visit the facilities and technologies utilized in the Agricultural Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center (AMTEC) laboratory operations last May 30, 2024.

They were given a short orientation about the vital role of AMTEC in the agricultural mechanization and food security programs of the academe and the government. A function that is significant in the holistic and sustainable development of the agricultural sector that is relevant to the said event.

This annual event gathers agrifood system stakeholders, technology experts, and enthusiasts to share knowledge and collaborate in addressing the pressing challenges in agrifood systems in developing countries. It was the first time that the country hosted the conference and was simultaneously held in Kenya, India, Mexico, and the USA.

The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the Department of Agriculture- Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) organized this year’s conference. AMTEC being one of UPLB’s active service units and the premiere and reference testing center for agri-fishery testing, has supported the said event.

With the guidance of AMTEC resident engineers, the guests were briefed about the available testing setups in the Agricultural Machinery Testing and Studies (AMATS) and Sample Analysis (SAL) laboratories.

AMTEC continuously supports programs and activities that contribute to the advancement of the agricultural sector in the country and even the neighboring nations in the region. In fact, since the start of the year, it has already accommodated numerous institutions who want to explore the technologies and facilities of the Center.
