On May 14, 2025, fourth-year Mechanical Engineering (ME) students and faculty members from Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) visited the Agricultural Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center (AMTEC) at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. The visit was part of the students’ academic fieldwork requirements and aimed to provide practical exposure to machinery testing processes relevant to their field of study.

The visit began with an orientation session at the AMTEC lobby, where students and faculty were introduced to the center’s mission, mandates, and vital role in advancing agricultural mechanization in the Philippines.
During the tour, AMTEC’s resident test engineers led demonstrations of various machinery testing setups and laboratory equipment. Engr. Reyes and Engr. Palillo facilitated the tour of the Agricultural Machinery Testing and Studies (AMaTS) Laboratory, while Engr. Damance guided the group through the Sample Analysis Laboratory (SAL) facilities, and Engr. Manumbali discussed about the instruments used in agricultural machinery testing. The demonstrations gave students valuable insights into the machinery and testing practices used in the agricultural engineering sector.

The visit offered students hands-on exposure to the tools and technologies they study in courses related to power, energy, and agricultural machinery systems. Through direct engagement with AMTEC’s facilities and personnel, they gained a deeper understanding of real-world applications in their field.
As a gesture of gratitude, the DHVSU faculty presented a certificate of appreciation to AMTEC for accommodating the tour and providing a meaningful learning experience. Discussions are already underway for a follow-up visit, following the success of this academic engagement.
The Center expressed its gratitude to the university for a worthwhile encounter and looks forward to witnessing the continued success of the university and its graduating students. Beyond testing and evaluation, this also demonstrates how AMTEC fulfills its mandate and supports the university’s role in serving the public.
