To continue the extension of technical expertise to various SUCs in the country, AMTEC welcomed twenty (20) fourth-year BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (ABE) students, and their faculty chaperones, from the Mindanao State University- Marawi City for an educational field trip last February 22, 2024. .
The said visit was a vital activity in their MSU’s ABE curriculum, under the course “Undergraduate Seminar and Fieldtrip for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering,” which requires the students to conduct field trips to any government agencies, non-governmental institutions, or private entities whose function is related to the field of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.
Test Engineers and staff of AMTEC showcased the technologies operated at the Center. The tour included a brief orientation about the Center and quick informational discussions on various testing setups and equipment in the Mechanical Testing and Sample Analysis Laboratories.
Apart from being designated as the premiere and reference testing center of agr-fishery machinery in the Philippines, AMTEC is also a public service unit of the university that constantly provides training for students, technicians, and engineers on testing and evaluation of agricultural and fishery machinery.
Meanwhile, the students have also toured the other related units/research facilities of the College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology (CEAT) such as the Center for Agri-Fisheries and Biosystems Mechanization (BIOMECH), National Agrometeorological Station (UPLB-AGROMET), and UPLB Plant Factory with Artificial Lighting Research Laboratory (PFAL).
The Center looks forward to more partnership opportunities such as this event with more SUCs, government agencies, and private companies for the coming months. These activities enable more collaborative efforts for the achievement of a holistic and inclusive agricultural mechanization program in the country and nearby regions.
