NVSU explores opportunities with AMTEC

A benchmarking activity on AMTEC’s operations and facilities was conducted by the Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) to seek opportunities for collaboration with the Center last February 28, 2024. It explores the capabilities of AMTEC in the field of agri-fishery machinery testing and evaluation.

The visit was part of the activities of their ongoing “A Fruit Grade Today for a Mechanized Citrus Postharvest System Tomorrow” project. A research and development project funded by the Department of Budget and Management.

The activities involved an overview presentation about AMTEC, facilitated by Engr. Marie Jehosa B. Reyes, specifically on its mandates, services, and extension activities. They were also briefed by Engr. Fatima Joy Raytana- Aying about how the Center could help them in testing the machines that they will develop in accordance with the  Philippine National Standards (PNS) on agri-fishery machinery.

Additionally, Engr. Melvin T. Baldrias introduced the various testing instruments that are used by the Center in the laboratory and on-field testing operations. The series of discussions provided information that was deemed vital to assist and guide the guests in meeting their project goals.

Apart from testing the performance of agri-fishery machines, AMTEC also analyzes samples (e.g. grains, soils, etc.) gathered from field testing, to comprehensively provide necessary data about the efficiency and quality of the machines. A function that would be a good entry point for NVSU and the Center to collaborate with.

The Center, through the years, has and will continue to share its technical expertise among partners and collaborators in the field of agri-fishery mechanization. It is a practice that solidifies AMTEC’s commitment to contributing to the achievement of food security in the country.
